School Facts

Berryhill Elementary began providing instruction for students in grades 1-6 in 1926 and holds the distinction of being the first pure elementary school in Milton. From 1926 until the fall of 1990 the school was housed in a facility located at 303 Berryhill Street (that site burned in the Fall of 2022). Land was purchased in 1988 for the present facility at 4900 Berryhill Road. Construction began in July 1989, and the opening of the new building began at the start of the 1990-91 school year.

During Berryhill's history, eight gentlemen have guided the education of students as the principal. Berryhill's current principal is Mrs. Dawn Chapman who served as Assistant Principal at Berryhill from 2005 until her appointment as Principal in October of 2020. She is the first female principal in Berryhill's history.

Our school history is rich in tradition, memories, and accomplishments with many students returning as parents, grandparents, teachers, staff, and even a principal. Berryhill strives to provide its students with growth using rigorous and intensive teaching methods.
Our school staff includes a principal, assistant principal, instructional personnel, and educational support personnel.  Other contracted personnel include a health technician, food service workers and custodians. The staff exemplifies the team concept as they work together for the betterment of all students.
We currently serve students in Pre-K through 5th grade.  In addition to general educational classes, we are able to provide classes in AIMS (Art Incorporating, Math and Science), Physical Education, Speech, and Exceptional Student Education. Our curriculum includes a wide variety of educational software that is accessed through a number of innovative programs like Discovery Education, I-Ready, and Renaissance Learning - Accelerated Reading and Math.
We have been honored repeatedly over the years by the Florida Department of Education as being recognized as an “A” school for scores on State assessments.  The Florida Department of Education has also honored Berryhill for a high level of parent volunteer participation by awarding the Golden School Award.  Another honor of significance is accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
