Reading Program Info (Book Clubs, SSYRA/SSYRA JR, and Beanstack)

Here at Berryhill Elementary School, we use the Accelerated Reader computer-based program to monitor students' reading progress and practice. When students meet certain grade-level word counts, they earn membership in a Book Club as described here.

SSYRA stands for Sunshine State Young Reader Award.  At Berryhill Elementary we encourage the students to read the books from the two different lists for our age group, SSYRA Jr. and SSYRA 3-5.  To learn more about our SSYRA/ SSYRA Jr. program click here.

Beanstack is our newest computer-based reading tracker. Students track minutes spent reading at both home and school. Classes engage in monthly reading challenges to win prizes and a trophy.

AR Book Finder

Click on AR Book Finder to search for Accelerated Reader books by title, author, subject, or book level.  You can sort your search results, select book titles to add to your AR BookBag, print a list of your search results, or start a new search.  This database includes ALL AR books - not just the ones here in our library.

Maker Spaces in the Library

We have some hands on activities in the library, for teachers to check out, that encourage students to think and problem solve.  Most of the activities fit within our STEAM initiative (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) which focuses on the needs of our 21st century learners.
